By Melquin Merchan & Tim Buendia
The local artist community has thrived ever since Gabo showed that even a boy from a small, seemingly insignificant town can inspire people around the world. His success became a beacon of possibility, proving that talent can emerge from anywhere, no matter how remote. For many years, painters like Lucho Agamez and Jorge Carrillo showcased their work throughout the town, creating a rich cultural backdrop that paved the way for new voices. Now, as the world continues to change, a younger generation brings a refreshed perspective on life in the 21st century, blending tradition with modernity in their art. Building on this legacy, Melquin Merchan and Tim Buendía have decided to open an art gallery, aiming to connect the local community with a global audience. Their vision is to share not only local talent but also the timeless essence of magical realism, bringing the spirit of the region to the world stage.

Being lost in the imagination of magical realism is a wonderful feeling. It's like a surrender to something bigger and more powerful. That's what happened to me while I was traveling around the world and I arrived in Colombia's Caribbean. So i changed my name into Tim Buendia de la buena vida.

Melquin Merchan was first inspired by Lucho Agamez, el pintor de Macondo when he was 9 years old. Since then he painted, and studied, and taught.
Now he's the number one painter in Aracataca, selling his works all over the world.
